Yep, you read that right. You may have seen people blogging or talking about making chocolate mousse out of avocados before, but have you ever tried it? I have, and it’s incredible. You’d never guess that what you were eating was:
- Full of healthy plant-based fat
- Good for you–gasp!
I figure there are probably tons of recipes out there for avocado chocolate mousse, but I’ve never followed any of them. My mousse was the result of me spending too much time on Pinterest, and 100% experimentation. Oh, and a LOT of leftover avocado that was about a day between perfectly ripe, and brown mushy grossness. It was the perfect time to do some experimenting with avo and cocoa. Avocado Chocolate Mousse (serves 2) 1 ripe avocado, peeled and pitted 1 tablespoon cocoa powder 1 tablespoon honey Toss avocado in a food processor and process until creamy. You’ll need to scrape the sides down a few times to make sure all the green goodness is pulverized into smooth goodness. Add cocoa powder and honey and process some more until everything is combined and yummy, scraping down the sides as needed. Taste, and add more cocoa powder and honey to taste. Scoop into two ramekins or other fancy dessert dishes, and refrigerate at least 30 minutes. Eat immediately, if not sooner.
Have you ever tried avocado mousse or another similarly odd dessert that turns out to be incredible? Tell me–I’m always looking for new ideas!
