Down the Rabbit Hole

I am a fairly easily distracted person, so it’s no surprise that I can easily disappear down rabbit holes that to others seem unimportant or even stupid. But sometimes I just can’t help myself. I recently went down a rather strange rabbit hole, and I’m finding it hard to dig myself out of.

As a teenager I was a pretty big Oasis fan. I loved both Gallagher brothers, though I went back and forth with which one was my favorite. I followed them through their most popular phase in the mid-90s, all the way to their third and fourth albums… and then I kind of lost track of them. Until recently.

I knew Oasis split up and that Liam and Noel Gallagher no longer spoke, but that was about the extent of my knowledge. Then, about a year ago, I started listening to Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. I got pretty into them but never looked up his brother or anything. But then, a couple of weeks ago, a Liam Gallagher song came up on a playlist, and I really liked it.

Since then, I have watched documentaries (yes, plural), interviews, re-listened to all of Oasis’ albums, discovered how much I like Liam’s solo stuff, and learned about the brothers’ latest tiff set off by Noel’s wife calling Liam a fat twat. I watched a series of YouTube videos of Noel commenting on Oasis music videos. I find them both hilarious, and also think they are both wankers. I would love to see them live, or meet them, or have Liam respond to my response on his tweet. They are highly entertaining and I am thoroughly enjoying this rabbit hole.
